Director, Marketing and Media Strategy
Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), the Director of Marketing & Media Strategy leads the Museum’s integrated marketing and media strategy—centering audiences alongside art and artists and growing and sustaining ambitious attendance and audience-driven revenue goals. The Director, Marketing & Media Strategy owns the connection between attendance forecast, audience segmentation, marketing activity, and attendance outcomes: closing the loop between what the Museum projects, whom it targets, and the results it achieves.
Responsibilities
- Partner with CMO and Finance to support marketing and audience inputs.
- Set and execute the integrated, multi-year and annual marketing and media strategy.
- Write integrated marketing briefs for internal and agency use.
- Maintain a dynamic segmentation framework and set audience-specific goals.
- Lead media strategy and buying with expertise spanning paid media, search, social and SEO / AEO.
- Lead access-and-growth campaigns for the free-admission programs.
- Expand reach to younger and local communities and Spanish-speaking and Latinx audiences.
- Oversee institutional digital marketing strategy.
- Support earned-revenue growth across attendance, membership, retail and food & beverage.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree a plus.
- 5–7 years in marketing leadership, including ownership of an integrated marketing function.
- Proven experience in audience strategy and segmentation, with direct accountability for attendance or demand targets.
- Demonstrated command of attendance or demand forecasting, and of the attribution that connects marketing activity to outcomes.
- Experience managing operating budgets.
- Team leadership experience, including managing managers.
