Weekends and holidays required 

The Whitney is seeking a temporary Porter in the Facilities Department.  The Porter will report to the Director of Facilities and the Facilities Operations Managers.

Responsibilities 

Assist with maintaining the building’s appearance and cleanliness within the galleries, museum offices, restrooms, stairs/hallways and other behind-the-scenes areas; Set up Museum meetings and events; Operate heavy floor equipment as necessary; and Assist with any additional facilities related duties. 

Requirements

  • Previous facilities operations/maintenance, porter, and cleaning experience
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Professional attitude
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff
  • Able to work overtime and be flexible with work schedule and
  • Ability to move, lift and/or utilize heavy equipment or furnishings.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to perform outside work during inclement weather which may include snow removal and other related duties
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, early and evening hours
