Porter

Full-time Temporary
Weekends and holidays required 

 

The Whitney is seeking a temporary Porter in the Facilities Department. The porter will report to the Director of Facilities and the Facilities Operations Managers. 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

Assist with maintaining the building’s appearance and cleanliness within the galleries, museum offices, restrooms, stairs/hallways, and other behind-the-scenes areas; Setting up Museum meetings and events; Operating heavy floor equipment as necessary; and assisting with any additional facilities related duties.  

Requirements: 

  • Previous facilities operations/maintenance, porter, and cleaning experience
  • Professional attitude
  • Strong work ethic 
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff
  • Able to work overtime and be flexible with work schedule 
  • Ability to move, lift and/or utilize heavy equipment or furnishings
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, early and evening hours
